Beading

Beading can serve to provide a seat or stop on the outside of the tubular component. If the bead diameter is only slightly larger than the original tube diameter, a friction fit can be developed between the bead and the mating part. Since the bead is essentially a free form, the shape is not easily controlled.

Subsequent to beading, thermal treatment may be required to relieve stresses and improve mechanical integrity.
